Setting Goals

How often do you set goals? Is it once or twice a month, or year?

Goal:
The object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result.
  1. "going to law school has become the most important goal in his life"

The goal is to set them often and strive to achieve them.

By setting goals often, we challenge ourselves to step out of our comfort zone and GROW. In order to get into the habit of setting goals, and keep the momentum going, we (me and you) are going to set 2-3 goals every month. Experts say it is important to set small attainable goals with a time frame to keep us accountable. This strategy will eventually lead us to our BIG goal.

For example:
My BIG goal is to run a half a marathon race in a one year. In order to reach that goal, I’ll start with a small goal - running 2 miles 3x a week. As I build stamina and endurance, I’ll add more miles, and increase the number of days in a week that I run.

My 3 goals for the month all have one thing in common - to make me a healthier person. Health isn’t only physical, there is your  mental health, financial health, emotional health, relationship health etc.

Let’s get started!

1. Practice self care once a week

In the daily hustle and bustle of life, it is a little TOO easy to forget to take care of ourselves - especially women. Since we’re nurturers by nature, we tend to take care of everyone and everything besides our self. This month we are going to change that!

I watched a video where Jada Pinkett-Smith was talking about how important it is for women to take care of ourselves first in order to take care of our families - click here to watch that video. She is so right! I know for myself, I always perform my best and treat my relationships the best when I take care of myself. For example, working out in the morning.

So ladies, let’s get in formation, and take care of ourselves first before we try to take care of others on an empty tank.

Self-care is about making time for yourself. That means 10 or 60 minutes a day to pamper yourself with a massage, at home spa day, meditate, get your nails done, workout, or read a book, you name it! Just make time for you, for a healthier you!

2. Attack problems head on (stop procrastinating)

Any issues that arise, I will try to  address them as soon as possible. I've learn that when you don't, it creates a huge, unnecessary problem that could've been avoided.

How many of you have issues that you know you should be addressing now but instead you're sitting on it because you don't want to be bother with them?

I strongly advise you to write out a plan to start tackling them this month, and as they arise. Because they usually always end up costing you a lot of MONEY and TIME in the long run. TRUST I'm speaking from experience!

3. Financial Freedom (Saving & Investing)

If you're into Hip-Hop, you know that Jay-Z recently dropped an album. It’s exclusively on Tidal, and it’s titled 444.

Jay-Z aka Sean Carter (for my blog sake, I going to call celebs by their first name because we are friends in my head lol)

The Story of OJ is probably the most played song on his album.

“The Story of OJ’ is really a song about we as a culture, having a plan, how we’re gonna push this forward. We all make money, and then we all lose money, as artists especially. But how, when you have some type of success, to transform that into something bigger.” - Sean Carter

“...Fuck living rich and dying broke, financial freedom my only hope”.

I’m going to make it a goal of mine to get in contact with a financial advisor and put a plan in place for myself. I recently subscribed to Kindle Unlimited, and have already read Investing for Beginners: A Simple, Concise & Complete Guide to Investing. I read this because I want to start learning about investing in mutual and index funds. Most importantly though, making my money work for me. I’ll write a review on this book and post it here soon.

At the end of the day……

Mannnnnnnn listen, I just want to grow and become  a strong  woman of God, have great health, build and nurture personal relationships that inspire growth.

I'm literally sooooooo excited to reach these goals. I feel really good about them! If these goals don’t work for you that is OKAY, set your own girlfriend! I'll keep you updated on these goals next month :-)

What are 2-3 goals that you want to accomplish this month?

List them down below!

#OnATuesday: Riding Thru The 6ix!

Last year I went Toronto for my birthday and I’m  finalllllllly blogging about it

By the way, Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope you enjoyed all the BBQ, Booze, and Fireworks! I went to Eagle Reservation and watched the fireworks there.

Let’s get into it.

Whenever I travel, I usually only have a few days to see as much a possible. I try to make the most of it, and see as much as possible. I knew I wanted to go to Toronto but didn’t know when. Originally I had planned to go the weekend of my birthday but something came up.

I went the following weekend instead. My birthday goal was to see the Niagara Falls. I have this obsession with the Seven Natural Wonders of The World aka God’s artwork!! I have to see all of them! So far I’ve seen the Grand Canyon and The Niagara Falls. I have so many more to see and best believe I will document them on here!

My brother and I drove to Toronto from NJ, it was about an 8hr drive. We got there around 12pm. We settled into the Hilton and my brother went straight to sleep because he drove the whole way. I stayed up and kept him company and we talked the whole way. I was tired as hell but I couldn’t go to sleep. I had stuff to do and places to see!

While he slept I met up with my friend who lives in Toronto. We went to the lake, It was very nice, but it was very cold. I was freezing! We walked the city, had asian food, sorry I didn’t take a picture of the food! In Canada, the government regulates and sells alllll the liquor. I thought that was so strange!

I had a #TimHortons double double which is two creams and two sugars. It's a #Canadian thing, and apparently the word "eh" is too. The coffee was good! After the coffee we went to Eaton Centre Mall

The streets of Toronto reminded me of #NYC but way  less crowded and very clean. After all that I went back to the hotel and took a 30 minute power nap. Later that night we went clubbing with my sister. We went to this place where it was sort of like an old fashioned speakeasy that played house music. After the speakeasy we went to #McDonalds, got some food, and I knocked out at the hotel. I was EXHAUSTED! lol

The next day we met up with my sister JC and had brunch at the Drake Hotel. In case you were wondering, #Drake doesn’t own that hotel lol. For brunch, I got the Drake Benny and a it was really good! The ambience at the Drake Hotel Restaurant was nice. The set up is very hipster-ish. Our waitress was amazing! She was knowledgable and very attentive to our needs!

After brunch we went to the city and started touring downtown. My sister took us to the HUGE toronto sign. We took a bunch of pictures. Then right across from the sign was a really famous food truck called “Mr Tasty’s Fries” and they served #POUTINE! I also really like food trucks lol. I had to order some. I feel like no trip to Canada is complete without poutine! After the poutine, we went to see the #CNTower and the aquarium.

Now for the highlight of my trip THE #NIAGARA FALLS! Where can I began?! The Falls are so  beautiful! The depth of the Falls literally took my breathe away. I couldn’t help but stand there in awe! What made it even better was that the lights were shining through the falls. It was a full moon that night as well. I can’t wait to go back and see it during the day.

After the falls we went to The Keg Steakhouse and had dinner. I managed to get a picture of my food! lol The food was really good andI really enjoyed myself. After The Keg, we said our goodbyes and started driving home. My Toronto experience was amazing. If you can, you should totally visit!

Toronto was good to me! I will be back soon!

Friday: Date is SET! CRUNCH Time

I set date for a something major that is about to happen in a few weeks. I am nervous, but extremely excited.  Life has been hectic around here, still...I have a one major setback that I am working on overcoming, no biggie! God Got ME! So instead of being sad, I'm going to shake it off and practice some Self-care, and do some girly stuff with my niece annnnnnnd spend time with the people I care about!

Let me tell you something that I've learned so far about life. When major things are getting ready to happen in your life, things will go wrong. One thing about God is that he will never leave you hanging. I
f you want something in life, something that is aligned with your destiny, things will go wrong, but keep fighting for it.

#OnATuesday: Checkin' w/ Post from the Past

Hey,

Today has been a hectic day... but the way my Faith is set up, God always got me!

So I want to talk about a few pieces I tried on a while ago.

This was a cute dress but the design made me look bigger on the bottom hunty!

I liked this dress.  I didn't get it because it was very short, it only covered my butt bum.
